r. Mike Deninger is a “seasoned veteran” of life. Affectionately referred to simply as Dr. Mike, he now enjoys sharing his skills, his knowledge of the inner self and his wisdom through the work of PHOENIX. During his prestigious career, he has been an elementary and high school principal; a graduate professor of language and culture; a director of product development, outreach, and training; a university dean (13 years); a researcher; and a mental health therapist. While a dean at Gallaudet University, Dr. Mike oversaw the construction of a multi-million dollar academic complex, administered an operating budget of over $30 million, and managed a staff of more than 400 employees. He has led groundbreaking training of his own design in cultural diversity and the process of change. He has also served as a management consultant to non-profits and educational programs. He is also a master American Sign Language Interpreter who has worked in the field of deafness for many years.

Most importantly, Dr. Mike understands how difficult change can be. He successfully weathered many personal and professional challenges of his own. He knows what he’s talking about and he wants to pass on what he knows to others. He is keenly aware of the process of personal renewal and the success that can come when one frees the mind, relaxes the will, and cultivates the inner spirit.

Dr. Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, and a Master of Science in Special Education from Canisius College. He also earned a PhD in Special Education Administration (dissertation with distinction), and a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling (4.0 average) from Gallaudet University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a National Certified Counselor, and is certified in clinical hypnotherapy by the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists.

Dr. Mike’s interests include acting, writing, and the development of the physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual self. He is currently working on a memoir of his life. He is eager to help you address the challenges you face.
